Draggable objects are one of the most commonly seen elements on modern web applications these days. From adding Widgets in WordPress to moving cards around in Trello, a day doesn’t go by for many people without some drag-drop actions through multiple dashboard areas. If you are working on any web application or interface and need to add a draggable widget or content boxes, you can use JQuery plugins like JQueryUI, ZinoUI and other UI plugins for JQuery. But if its just a simple draggable object that you want to create without adding any extra plugins, you can do so easily in a few lines of code and just by using JQuery. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to add a draggable object using JQuery(without JQueryUI).

Lets get down to creating a simple HTML page where the draggable element will reside.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
    <title>Draggable</title>
    <script src="jquery-2.2.0.js"></script>
    <script src="script.js"></script>
</head>

<body>
    <div id="drag">

    </div>

</body>
<style>
    #drag {
        width: 20px;
        height: 20px;
        border-radius:10px;
        background: #ccc;
        position: fixed;
    }
</style>

</html>

Its very simple, all we did here is create div called drag which will be our draggable element and applied some styling to it to make it conspicuous. Remember to replace the links to the JQuery file and the script file(which we will be creating in the next step) in the above code.

Now lets create a script.js file. Basically, the idea is to get trigger the div object with the id drag to move when the mouse key is pressed down. For this, we will be using JQuery’s mousedown event.

$(document).ready(function () {
    $('#drag').mousedown(function(){ // select #drag and add mousedown event to it
        $(document).mousemove(function(event){
            $('#drag').css({'left':event.pageX,'top':event.pageY});

        });
    });
    $(document).mouseup(function(){
        $(this).off('mousemove')
    });
});

So, when the mouse is pressed down on the div with the id drag, we want it to take the HTML position of the mouse. This is done by setting its CSS properties, top and left the same as the mouse’s X and Y co-ordinate values at any point on the screen. We want the object to take the mouse’s co-ordinates only as long as the mouse is clicked down. As soon as the mouse is released, we want the object to stop moving. To do this, we add another event mouseup to the main document(because mousemove() was added to the document to track the mouse co-ordinates on mousedown() event. We want to unbind this from the document upon mouse’s release).

How to create a draggable element(using Jquery) that goes back to its original position upon mouse release

Now if you want the object to go back to its original position when the mouse is released, you can simply add a line of code and it would the trick for you. In that case, the code would look something like this(look for comment on the line added)

$(document).ready(function () {
    $('#drag').mousedown(function(){
        $(document).mousemove(function(event){
            $('#drag').css({'left':event.pageX,'top':event.pageY});

        });
    });
    $(document).mouseup(function(){
        $(this).off('mousemove');
        $('#drag').css({'left':'','top':''}) // or use $('#drag').removeAttr('style');
    });
});

What we did here is simply removed the left and top from the style attribute we had added to the drag div.  You can also use remove the style attribute from the element to achieve similar results. Here’s is the Fiddle.

That’s it! That is how you can create a draggable object using JQuery and a few lines of code.

Web hosting providers are worth dime a dozen. There are countless hosting providers that offer you some really great deals for bargain prices. Most of the hosting providers support PHP hosting out of the box while there are some other providers that support a whole host of platforms like Ruby on Rails, Python with Django and more. It all boils down to selecting the hosting company that offers great hosting for their platform. As WordPress is one of the most popular and most widely installed CMSs, there are some hosting providers like WPEngine, Flywheel etc. that cater only to customers that want to host their WordPress sites. As one of the most popular WordPress hosting providers, WPEngine really shines above the rest. Lets take a look.

wpengine wordpressFirst things first…

As mentioned earlier, WPEngine exclusively provides hosting for WordPress based sites only. If you are looking forward to hosting your website that is not running on WordPress, then you can skip this article J

WP Engine Control Panel

WP Engine Control Panel is especially designed to make sure that you only get the required information on your WordPress based website and nothing more. On a traditional Hosting Control Panel, you will see bunch of stuff that you may not even use ever. Things like BoxTrapper, Webmail, Web templates, Spam Assassin which you can find on the control panel of some other hosts like Bluehost or Hostgator are rarely used. On WPengine, you can check out stats like Overages , Total visits, bandwidth usage stats etc. You can also install wordpress on new domain right from the admin dashboard. Although this feature is also available in cPanel based dashbords via installer software, WPEngine definitely makes it a bit easier.

WPEngine Speed Review

WPEngine is built for those who are conscious about speed. In this competitive age, if you are website takes aeons to load, you can lose customers without your knowing. So, for your peace of mind, its very vital that your hosting provider offers speed and no downtimes. If you are not happy with your current hosting provider because of speed issues, WPEngine’s cloud hosting platform will definitely win your heart as they offer very good speed and give you the ability to manage your resources. WordPress is not built to scale out of the box so if you have a sudden surge of visitors to your site, chances are that your site will start chocking and will load slowly to some users. WPEngine uses MaxCDN(content delivery network) and has a built in caching system to make sure that your site never experiences downtime. WPEngine beats most of the traditional hosting providers in speed benchmarks.

WPEngine Caching

WPEngine uses a technology for caching called EverCache. Its a scalable WordPress architecture and is the tool that enables WPEngine to serve millions of website visitors everyday across the many thousand websites that run on their servers. WPEngine claims that they were able to serve upto 15,000 simultaneous visitors on a single website for one of their clients as well as serve upto 100 million visitors across all their sites in a span of 12 hours without any hitch. So, with WPEngine, you won’t need to install any caching or minification plugins as they take care of all that for you.

WPEngine also offers Object caching which you can turn on for extra speed boost.

Automated Backups and Disaster Recovery

You never know when you might make a blunder and need to recover your website from a backup. WPEngine offers snapshot backups which will allow you to restore your site to an earlier “good” version within a matter of minutes. Snapshots basically are restore points and if you want to undo any action you can just pick a snapshot and make it the current live version. A snapshot includes your content(database), themes and plugins. And I you want, you can also download it to your hard drive. WPEngine takes daily snapshots so you can just pick a date of the snapshot and click to restore. How cool is that?

They have on-demand as well as automatic daily backups and all the backups are stored in a heavily redundant and geographically separate location.

WPEngine Review – Multiple Server locations (US, UK and Tokyo, Japan)

You can also choose to host your site on a server location other than the US. This can be hugely beneficial if your target audience resides outside the US and where or nearby WPEngine’s servers are available. Currently, WPEngine has servers located in US(Midwest), London(Europe) and Tokyo(Asia). Each of their servers are identical in terms of hardware and configuration.

60 day Risk Free Trial of WPEngine

This is not particularly a feature but if you can try WPEngine risk free for 60 days. You need to pay for their service at the beginning though and if you are not satisfied within 60 days, you will be refunded in full.

WPEngine’s Staging Area

WPEngine offers an awesome staging tool that allows you to test your WordPress site before deploying. This may not be that useful for everyone but for some, it can come in real handy. You can install all the plugins, tweak your themes and make sure everything is working perfectly before deploying it.

WPEngine Security from Hackers and Malicious tools

WordPress is not the best platform out their for security. Every now and then we come across blog and forum posts on hacking woes related to wordpress. WPEngine’s security environment gives you a peace of mind and makes sure that your site is protected from your exploits.

Disk Write Limitations on WPEngine

WPEngine has a disk write protection system. If a malicious code embeds itself to your website and attempts to write to the file system, it will leave the door wide open for hackers. WPEngine’s environment limits the processes that can write to the disk and even if you are using a theme or plugin with a vulnerability, it is hard for them to get exploited.

Disk Write privileges

This ensures that Generic PHP code and any other file in that process hasn’t been given write privileges.

Developing WordPress Sites with Great Flexibility on WPEngine

Here’s a great slide prepared by the folks at WPEngineUK. This will show how you can  harness the power of WPEngine to build highly customizable WordPress based websites.

Other WPEngine Features

Domain Management Tool

The Domain Management tool on WPEngine allows you to manage your primary domains as well as domain level redirects.

Custom Redirect Rules

You can manage individual redirects directly from WPEngine. It can come in real handy if you need to add 301 redirects to your old URLs and point them to new ones.

Error Logs

If you need to check your Error Logs, you can check those directly from WPEngine’s dashboard without downloading the log files and peeking int them.

PHPMyAdmin

Although not exactly a special feature, WPEngine allows you to access PHPMyAdmin right from its dashboard.

Site Migration

Site Migration is very easy with WPEngine. Within 15 minutes to half an hour, you can transfer a WordPress website and get going with it.

It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago economic growth was tied to electricity sales. The two were thick as thieves, best-friends-forever, hand-holding and everything. Then, in 2008 things changed. The country entered an economic depression, and retail electricity sales continued to drop by small percentages. The result is what’s called demand destruction, and it could spell disaster for energy providers.

The Difference Between Demand Destruction and Demand Reduction

The aftermath is what Slate.com refers to as the “New Energy Economy.” The struggling economy resulted in more people regulating their energy usage, as well as seeking out ways to generate their own electricity. Businesses continue to seek out ways to generate their own electricity as well, including rooftop gardens and solar panels. This is demand destruction.

Demand destruction is when the need for a resource is eliminated completely or significantly reduced. This is not the same thing as demand reduction, which occurs when consumers switch to CFL lightbulbs or Energy Star rated appliances. Demand destruction happens when a consumer or business trades in their gas-guzzlers for electric cars, or when a business purchases wind turbines. It occurs only when the need for the resource is significantly reduced or eliminated.

For consumers, the New Energy Economy is both good and bad. It’s good because it’s resulted in lower priced solar panels and more competitive energy markets. Many communities have deregulated their energy markets, such as Alberta, Canada. The deregulated market results in more options for the consumer, such as lower price energy and more alternative energy suppliers to subscribe to. For more information, check out Alberta Energy Providers: visit site.

The New Energy Economy is bad for consumers because it could result in significant job loss. If energy suppliers go out of business, the economy may suffer. One can only hope that alternative energy suppliers are able to create and provide new jobs, so thousands of employees aren’t left with financial hardships to face.

How Businesses Can Contribute to Efficiency

Although a struggling economy had a lot to do with reducing energy consumption, climate change played a role too. Climate change has the potential to affect how much energy the world is able to produce. According to the EPA, water is needed to produce energy. Water is needed to produce energy, but climate change could lessen the amount of water available.

Businesses will need change some key habits, in order to save water now – in preparation for a future where water reserves may run low. Here’s some easy ways your business can begin conserving now, and thus contribute to a more energy-efficient world (and, thus, contribute to demand reduction):

  • Use cloud technology to distribute important information and data; as opposed to large volume print jobs
  • Reduce unproductive travel time by staying connected online and conducting virtual meetings and teleconferences
  • Encourage employees to turn off lights, computers, and other electronics at the end of the day
  • Educate employees on the benefits of reducing their carbon footprints
  • Subscribe to a smart service, such as a service that automates your businesses’ lighting systems and more

In the last 10 years, energy costs have risen substantially despite an economic downturn that began in 2008 and didn’t recover for some years. The result is demand destruction, which is disastrous for nonrenewable energy providers, but spells ultimate success for those offering renewable energy sources. Regardless of how you view it, good or bad, it’s happening. Businesses are encouraged to explore the New Energy Economy, and determine exactly how it can best benefit the overall profitability of your company.

We’ve all been there. Sometimes we become attached to office equipment for the strangest reasons. Maybe it really is all about that tight budget or it could be that you have fond memories regarding that old fax machine. Is it because we are all prone to feel resistant to change? Who knows? Either way, we can’t escape the fact that most of the time we are reluctant to buying new equipment even if that means spending hundreds of dollars just to keep things working.

mission machines

Yes. An efficient IT department is mandatory and, at least, annual servicing is more than necessary; but when is it time to let go of that old computer? When do you know your office phone is on borrowed time? It all depends. Instead of looking at the big picture, let’s focus on a particular device that is the life flow of your business communications: your phone system.

The first reason you might want to replace your current telephone system is because it’s showing its age. When your server starts to get older you will notice how things start to go wrong. This happens at different times for different systems but the fact is that all phone systems start to go downhill after a few years. It could be five years or it could be eight. It doesn’t matter. Once your equipment reaches a certain point you will have to start making endless repairs that will start costing you a lot of money.

How Can You Tell If Your Phone System Needs Repairs?

Even if you have bought quality equipment with a long lifespan, sooner or later, these will need to be repaired. According to Stewart Telecommunications, there are several factors that help you know if your phone system is not working at full capacity. For example, if your phone calls are failing or if voicemails are lost because they can’t be saved, your phone system needs to be repaired. Additionally, if your unit malfunctions due to spills, it also needs to get a little love from a technician

When this happens, an expert might need to spend time to check each and every setup in the phone system in order to determine whether the issue is system-wide or if it is only affecting a couple of phones. Each phone and function might have to be tested individually. All of these tests take a lot of time, and time is money. Technicians charge by hour, so the longer the stay at your office… Well, do the math.

How Much Do Phone System Repairs Actually Cost?

Evolven reported that, “On average, businesses lose between $84,000 and $108,000 (US) for every hour of IT system downtime.” And, while keeping that in mind, take into consideration that the experts at TelcoDepot told us that 1 out of 5 times a company experiences downtime it’s because of issues related with their phone systems.

The good news is that this can be avoided by regular maintenance and checkups. The bad news is that a broad range of factors are taken into account when it comes to phone system repair cost. Some of the essential factors include:

  • The type of phone system
  • The number of extensions
  • Whether the issue is in one telephone or the whole system
  • Whether the issue is in the telephone system’s wiring, software or hardware

According to Home Advisor, due to its complexity, the standard repair of a PBX phone system costs $100 (for each phone extension). While a key telephone system or KSU-less system costs about $50 for each line. Besides, the repair comes to $500 whenever the phone system’s central unit is the cause of the problem. And lastly, if wires are the issue, then they must be replaced. There’s no way around that. Changing telephone system wiring costs $100 per connection, approximately.

If you are keeping track, a phone system repair could be around $600 if there’s more than one issue involved.

Other Things to Take Into Account

Even if phone manufacturers offer a warranty, whenever a handset, cable, or power supply is damaged after the first 12 months, the warranty does not usually cover replacement or repair expenses. Home Advisor also reported that the standard power supply for a telephone costs $20, changing a cable in a phone can cost around $10 and changing a router in a phone system could up to $250.

When repairing your phone system becomes an issue on its own, it is time to consider changing it for a new one. If you want to make the investment, check out this shortlist of popular cost-effective phone systems. At the end of the day, it is your call — no pun intended. Do you want to get your business up and running with a phone system that functions properly?

Popular Cost-Effective Phone Systems

  • AT&T SB67118 4-Line Corded/Cordless Small Business Phone System: Retailing at $578.88, this wireless phone features the cutting-edge DECT 6.0 technology.

Therefore, as your business expands and changes, you need a new phone system that can expand with you. So, what are you waiting for?

Do you own a small business? Do you have any remote workers? Then you might be interested in the XBLUE X-50. Supporting both VoIP lines and traditional lines, the X-50 is perfect for companies with up to 49 users. One of the main benefits of this equipment is that it is easy to self-install, which means you can save big bucks from the get-go. But, how exactly does self-installation can save you money?

X-50-7-packKeep in mind that the installation and programming can usually double the total cost of the phone system itself. As a small business owner, you certainly do not want to throw money away. If you already own the XBLUE X-50 or you are planning to get one for your business, the telephony experts at TelcoDepot.com have come up with a step-by-step guide to help you install it quickly, and they have shared it with us:

Components

Step 1: Connect the LAN Port and Your Telephone

First of all, connect the LAN port of your X-50 system to the 8 port data switch provided. Also, if you already have an existing data switch, you can use it if you’d like to. To connect your telephone, plug the X-50 telephone into your existing data jack and your computer into your telephone. Both your phone and your computer now work off the same data cabling and jack.

Step 2: Access the Features

The X-50 is an all-inclusive system that’s fully equipped with all of the features your business would ever need which also means no additional hidden expenses to add optional features. Popular features like voicemail, conferencing, automatic receptionist, caller ID and forwarding calls automatically to your cell phone are all standard features on the X-50. And your X-50 telephone’s 6 line backlit LCD display makes all the features very accessible and easy to use.

Step 3: Install Off-Site X-50 Telephones

One of the most renowned advantages of the XBLUE X-50 system is its fully integrated off-site telephone operation for a remote worker or home office. There are no extra costs. In order to install an X-50 telephone off-site, you just need an Internet connection at each remote location.

Step 4: Plug the Modular Console

Python is one of the best General purpose programming languages out there and is extensively used in web applications, scientific research and more. There are plenty of IDEs or Integrated Development Environments for Pythons to choose from, some of which are free and some are paid. Some popular paid ones such as Pycharm, WingIDE etc. both of which also have a free version with limited features and tools. However there are some lesser known Python IDEs such as Ninja IDE, Eric IDE, Pyscripter etc. which while being free are also quite feature rich that they give IDEs like Pycharm a run for their money.

Eric IDE is one such IDE that isn’t known to many but contains so many features that its hard to believe it’s a free tool. But installation can be a bit tricky for Windows users in lack of proper documentaiton. Here’s how you can install Eric 6 IDE on Windows.

First of all, download Pyqt5 and install it. Please refer to this documentation to install Pyqt5(you need to have SIP install for it to successfully install)

Download Eric 6 installer package from their website here. After downloading the zip file extract it on your disk. Now copy the location of the folder. If you extract the files in the downloads folder, the location path will be something like: C:usersYOURPCNAMEdownloadseric6extracted

Now open command prompt(type cmd in windows search and hit Enter). Now type cd and paste the path of the folder location and hit Enter. Now open the folder through windows explorer and make sure there is an install.py file in the extracted directory. If it is, switch to command prompt again and type install.py and hit Enter.

Now wait until the installation is complete. Once done, you will see a message saying: Installation complete, Press enter to continue…

Now Hit enter and type eric6 and press Enter again. This should open up the Eric6 IDE.

pythonericideTo configure for autocompletion etc. in Eric6, go to Settings>preferences in the menu and go to Autocompletion>QSintilla. Select “from document and API files”. Now open Editor>APIs and select Python3 from the language dropdown. Click on Python3.4 API and press click on compile APIs. Do the same for QScintilla. Make sure to play around with other settings such as Code Checkers, file handling etc. to match your preferences.

With plethora of shared hosting services available to pick from for hosting your next website, it can a hard task to finally settle with one. Even after hours of reading hosting reviews and comparing pricing and plans, you could be left dumbstruck as to which hosting to go with. If you are a small or medium sized business or blogger who is looking for a reliable hosting for a decent price, hostgator could be your ideal choice. This site is also hosted on hostgator and throughout the years, I have been very happy with their service. Here are the 10 reasons that make Hostgator’s shared hosting plans the perfect hosting solution for you.

Hostgator’s excellent support

If a hosting company doesn’t have a good support system and manpower in place, it cannot be much relied upon. Hostgator has been quite phenomenal in terms of providing 24×7 support. Normally on weekdays, the maximum I have to wait to get on line with one of their live chat staff is around 5 minutes while on weekends it could be around 10-15. They will ask for your credentials and will try to solve your issue then and there for you.

Technically Sound Tech support

This could come under the first point but I wanted to make it a different one. On one occasion, I needed to automatically create a subdomain for each URL on one of my other sites. I installed a wordpress plugin for that and it wasn’t working and thinking it was a server related issue, I got on a live chat with hostgator tech support. He went out of his way and not only provided me an alternative and a more reliable solution without using a plugin but also pointed me to a stack overflow thread that showed how to do it. Very commendable.

Supports Ruby on Ralis out of the box

While this may not be quite a necessity for many bloggers who just need a hosting to get their WordPress blog started, it may come in handy for startups who want to build with Ruby on Rails, which is one of the most popular web frameworks out there today. You can find Ruby Gems and Ruby on Rails options under their software and services settings and get started with your Ruby on Rails based online application.

Hostgator’s Uptime: One of the best for shared hosting

One thing that Hostgator excels at is uptime. I am amazed at how much reliable Hostgator is in terms of the uptime it promises and lives up to. I use a web monitoring service called montastic.com which sends me an email whenever my site is down and then another email when the site is back up again. In a year, I may get around 10 emails from montastic saying the site is down and then another 10 saying its back up again. And the downtime is never more than 10-20 minutes. That’s about 15 minutes of down time every month and as a shared hosting user I am perfectly fine with that.

You may say 15 minutes is enough to a lose a potential customer who may land on my site during the downtime. But hey, if you compare it with other hosting companies in the same price range, it is actually miles better than the ridiculous downtimes that customers of other low price range hosting companies have to face.

Doesn’t lock you out of using certain WordPress plugins

Some hosting companies do not allow you to use certain memory hogging plugins like All in one SEO, broken link checker etc. While these plugins are great, they do use up a lot of memory. Some shared hosting providers like dreamhost prohibit the use of All in One SEO from what I have read other bloggers say. However, Hostgator doesn’t force you to stop using such plugins. It sure does recommend not using memory hogging plugins but you will always have an option to use them whenever you want.

As a sidenote, if you are looking for an alternative to all in one seo plugin, WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast would be a good choice for you.

Hosgator’s great site response times

If you check on pingdom, you will see that sites hosted on Hostgator have a very quick response time. For example for this site http://techattitude.com, the load time is just 2.41s at the time of writing this post.

Instant backup service on cPanel

Hostgator offers a good deal of backup services right on the cPanel. It has a cloud backup solution option and also allows you to save the a backup of the files using their backup wizard. Plus if you meet their criteria, Hostgator automatically backs up your data for you on a regular basis so that you won’t have to worry about losing any of your valuable data.

Hostgator’s Great security

Hostgator’s servers are pretty secure when compared to some other hosts. When I was working for one of my clients who was using Bluehost for hosting his websites, I witnessed his site got hit by malwares on more than one occasion. With hostgator, this doesn’t quite happen, at least it hasn’t happened with many people I know who have been using hostgator.

Besides that, Hostgator’s Sitelock feature available on their cPanel allows you to protect your site from the hackers.

Plenty of website builder options

Even if you are a complete noob when it comes to creating websites and blogs, hostgator can be your companion. It has a great suite of tools that allow you to install wordpress or other CMS like magento on your site with ease. Its Quickinstall tool allows you to install all different kinds of CMSs ranging from WordPress, Magento, joomla, glFusion, Modx, Mambo, Nucleus and more. It also has website builders such as Weebly mobisitebuilder which allow you to interactively build your site and start adding content right away.

It offers over 4500 free website templates, 8000 free images and flash intros and more. What more could you ask for?

Bing and Google Adwords credit

If you are a new user who wants to start out with a new hosting, you can benefit by signing up with hostgator as you will receive free Bing and Google Adwords credit as well.

Bonus points

Hostgator loves the nature

Hostgator servers are powered by wind. The millions of sites that are hosted on hostgator are powered by wind energy that comes from Texas wind power.

Coupons and Hosting Plans

Use the coupon TECHA25OFF to get instant 25% discount on your purchase of a hostgator plan.

Their shared hosting plan would be more than enough for your small or medium website needs. The Hatchling plan is the cheapest one but only allows you to host a single domain. The Baby plan allows unlimited domain, disk space and Bandwidth and I would recommend choosing that one because at point or other, you may feel like you need to host more than one website. The business plan is similar to the baby plan in terms of number of domains support and bandwidth but offers some extra features like Free Private SSL and IP as well as a Toll Free Number. So the Baby plan is ideal choice for you.

If you are still wondering if Hostgator is the right option for you or not, please take some more time to read reviews of other hosting services that you are considering besides Hostgator. Hostgator gets my full vote and you won’t regret choosing hostgator to host your website.

Do you run a membership website using WordPress as your platform? Or do you maintain your users for your web application on WordPress because of its ease of use and other features provided out of the box? In that case, you might have come across times when you needed to add users to your wordpress remotely and without much hassle. WordPress is a very powerful tool and comes with a bunch of APIs that you can use to achieve this functionality, i.e. create a user remotely. However, there is one easy way for you to do it, without having to write complicated codes. You can use JSON API to create users on WordPress.

The first step to do is to install WordPress JSON API plugin. The next step is to install another plugin known as JSON API User. Once you install both of these plugins, you will see “JSON API” under WordPress settings. JSON API User offers a bunch of options to fetch posts, add comments etc. and the JSON API User plugin that depends on the JSON API Plugin adds an icing on the cake by allowing you to remotely create users as well. So, on the settings page for this plugin, activate teh “User” creation option  and save your settings. Below it you will see an API base URL which by default is api. Change api to something that is hard to guess, something like sdf23234sdf and save the settings. Now you are ready to roll.

The first step is to get the nonce ID which is required to create a new user remotely. To obtain this ID, open the the URL in the following format:

http://domain.com/api/get_nonce/?controller=user&method=register

Here replace domain with your domain name and api with the api base you created in the earlier step. This will give you the nonce id in the following format:

{“status”:”ok”,”controller”:”user”,”method”:”register”,”nonce”:”92d7431951″}

Now copy the nonce ID which in the above case is 92d7431951(Note that this ID needs to be generated every time you need to create a new user, its not static).

Now use this ID in the following URL format to create a new user:

http://domain.com/APIBASE/user/register/?username=john&email=john@domain.com&nonce=NONCEID&display_name=John

Make sure to replace domain, APIBASE and NONCEID with the appropriate ones.

Now when you open the above URL, you will see a message saying that the user has been created.

Thats it. This will create a new user with the role that has been set up as default in your wordpress environment. By default, its “Subscriber” but you can change it to other roles from the Settings>General page using theNew User Default role dropdown field.

Thats it, now you can use simply send a request via s URL and a new user will be instantly created in your wordpress installation.

We use RSS feeds for many reasons, to read content from various websites in a digestible format, to pull data from websites to display in web applications and more. Almost all blogs provide a RSS feed that allows their readers to easily subscribe to and stay updated with their articles and new content. But there are some sites that yo may wish to have a RSS feed for but those aren’t provided out of the box. I was in a dire need for a RSS feed for a couple of facebook pages so I had to figure out if Facebook did provide it. It indeed does but its not documented anywhere. Here is how you can grab the RSS feed URL for any Facebook page and use it for various purposes.

The first step is to figure out the page id of your Facebook page. Figuring that out is quite easy. Add graph. to the beginning of your facebook URL and it will display some information about your page in plain text format. For eg, for the Facebook page of techattitude.com, http://facebook.com/techattitude. the graph URL will be http://graph.facebook.com/techattitude. When this link is opened, the 2nd line of the page shows the page id in this format: “id”: “1520225201598101”

Now copy this page ID. and replace the YOURPAGE ID in the following URL with the page ID that you want the RSS FEED URL for.
https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?id=YOURPAGEID&format=rss20
So, for techattitude’s facebook page, the RSS feed URL will be:
https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?id=1520225201598101&format=rss20
Another URL format is also available for the same purpose which is
http://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?format=rss20&id=YOURPAGEID

So, with this easy trick, you can easily grab the RSS feed for any facebook page. For eg, if you want to subscribe to CNN’s facebook page using your RSS feed reader, you can use the following feed URL for that purpose.
https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?id=5550296508&format=rss20
