HTC + Android = Mobile Computing Glorified! HTC, a Taiwan based company is one of the leading mobile phones manufacturers, on the other hand Android is growing into popularity to become the leading OS. Though Apple appears to be the first in touch screen based smart phones, it was actually HTC that first gave out the designs of one such device way back in 1998. It was also the first to come up with a Microsoft 3G phones. And last but not the least, it was also the first phone to host the Android platform; ever since HTC and Android have been inseparable.

Though all HTC phones are good in one way or another, we have compiled you a list of some of the best HTC phones powered by Android! For people looking to try Android powered phones, they can choose one from this list.

1). HTC Wildfire S

An updated version of the HTC Wildfire, the Wildfire S comes with better performance, greater looks and excellent flexibility. The best thing about the Wildfire series is that it is a budget phone, which means anyone can enjoy a high tech mobile phone, without having to spend a fortune. Many have been compared it with iPhone and rightly so! Specs are as follows …

  • Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread OS with HTC Sense 2.1 User Interface
  • 600MHz Snapdragon MSM7227 CPU, Adreno 200 GPU, 418MB RAM
  • 5 MP Autofocus camera, LED Flash along with Face – detection features
  • Battery life up to 5h in talk time mode – 570h in standby mode
  • Micro USB Port, Bluetooth, microSD slot
  • HTC Portable Hotspot

However, all is not good with HTC Wildfire S, just like any other gadgets or devices; it also comes with a few setbacks. First off, HTC Wildfire S, doesn’t offer the combo of front and rear camera. Second, being from the family of business phones, it doesn’t have a document viewer (even though you can use apps) and last, the looks of the HTC Wildfire S are very similar to its predecessor (Wildfire).

2). HTC Desire S

Released in April, 2011, the HTC Desire S is also a follow up of the HTC Desire. It also has a better alternative in the form of HTC Desire HD that has a magnificent 4.3” screen and the HTC Desire Z that comes with a slide-down keyboard. Take a look at the features!

  • Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 3.7 inches display screen
  • Capacitive, multi-touch screen
  • 1 GHz Qualcom MSM8255 Snapdragon Scorpion processor GB ROM, 768 MB RAM
  • 5MP autofocus camera along with secondary camera for face to face chat, LED flash
  • Battery life up to 7h in talk time mode – 455hours in standby mod

It seems like HTC is having problems with its video recording software, as both with the Wildfire and the Desire, the video resolution is a little unstable. But these defects are negligible, especially when there are many other good features to make up for them.

3). HTC Incredible S

The name suggests that this smart phone has got to be the ultimate one … let’s see if the specs do justice to the name …

  • Android Froyo v2.2 with HTC Sense UI
  • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Processor, 1.1 GB ROM, 768 MB RAM
  • 4-inch touch-screen
  • 8MP autofocus camera, with 1.3 secondary camera with LED Flash
  • Dolby Mobile and SRS sound enhancement
  • HTC Portable Hotspot
  • Proximity Sensor
  • Battery life 370h, talk time 6h 20 minutes

Again, 720p shaky video recording, Secondly, it runs on Froyo, instead of the more recent Gingerbread, which means a few hiccups and setbacks every now and then. So is the HTC truly incredible? Well, incredible is a little farfetched, still a good option for Android lovers.

4). HTC EVO 3D

While the first three ones were pretty much alike, this one is one step ahead. The EVO 3d gives you pictures and videos in a fantastic 3D format. Integrated is the qHD display that lets you see 3D images without the need of 3D glasses. The world of smart-phone has definitely evolved! Check out these features:

  • Android OS, v2.3 Gingerbread
  • 1.2 GHz dual core processor, Adreno 220 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8660
  • 3D LCD capacitive touch-screen, 4.3 inches screen
  • Multi-touch input method
  • Gyroscope sensor
  • 1 GB Storage, 1 GB RAM
  • 5MP camera, autofocus, dual-LED flash and secondary 1.3MP
  • Standby time 358 hours and talk time up to 9hours 20 minutes

The phone is exceptional, with just a few flaws which can be easily ignored. For example, the internal memory is a bit on the low but you can get an SD card.

5). HTC ThunderBolt

From Wildfire to ThunderBolt, HTC is churning out one beauty after another. Well, the Thunderbolt is a sturdy design and is meant for men who like style, class and high end usability. Specs?

  • Android 2.2 Froyo Operating System
  • 1 GHz Scorpion Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon processor
  • 768MB RAM, 8GB internal storage
  • Primary 8MP, autofocus, face detection, secondary 1.3MP, 720p resolution
  • Battery life is 1400 mAH, Talk time up to 6.3 hours
  • Gorrilla Glass display
  • Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate
  • Proximity sensor for auto turn-off

There are hardly any noticeable flaws in this set. It’s bulky alright, but we are talking about a set with powerful specs, the Thunderbolt lives up to its name.
