Windows Phone 7 marketplace hits 16000 apps

Windows Phone 7 Marketplace now has a whopping 16000 apps in different categories. There are 16069 applications as of now in the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace and the number is growing steeply.

Microsoft had released an Infographic on its top consumer products last month that said there were 13000 apps in its marketplace. Windows Phone Applist now has some interesting stats that show the growth in the number of applications for Windows Phone 7 in the past few weeks. Their stats say that in the last two weeks, 1624 new applications were added to the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace.

The graph for the Marketplace share by language shows that 73% of the apps are in English followed by 10% in French, 6% in both Deutsch and Spanish and 5% in Italian. Windows Phone Applist’s stats further say that there are about 6479 free apps for Windows Phone 7, 3981 paid apps with trail and 5634 paid apps.

There are already about 5614 Windows Phone 7 app developers approved in the Windows Phone 7 marketplace. The marketplace share by category shows that the largest percentage of apps are Games followed by Entertainment apps, Tools, Books and Reference, News and weather apps and so on.
