A Canadian company D-Wave had unveiled what it called a quantum computer that could solve Su-Doku puzzles. But there was lot of skepticism going on because the idea was still in its infant stage. The same company recently announced an imminent sale of its quantum computer to aerospace giant Lockheed Martin, a high profile client.

Scientists at the University of California, San Francisco have created bacteria that can be programmed like a computer. This is a great milestone on the effort to bridge the gap between the living world and the digital world. The functions that can be assigned to the bacteria are rather simple but developments in the technology can take place in the future.

The Google Docs team has added the editing feature in Google Docs Spreadsheets from mobile devices which was previously limited to viewing only. So, now you’ll be able to edit your Spreadsheets on mobile without having to stick to the computer.

If you have Microsoft Office installed on your computer, your office files like DOC, XLS etc. will automatically open up in Word or Excel. If you wish to see them on Google Docs you don’t need to upload them. You can configure your office files to open directly in Google Docs on double clicking.

The One Laptop Per Child project announced that it is cutting its workforce by 50%. It has also said that salaries for the remaining staff have been reduced. For the upcoming changes in the coming year, Nicholas Negroponte, founder of the group made an announcement in the company’s blog.
