You must have seen slow motion scenes on movies where an action taking place very fast is shown in slow motion. Slow motion techniques are employed in movies off and on. Actually in a slow motion video, a bunch of images are captured very fast—at least 120 images per second, and often 300 or more and then played back at the speed that your eye can grasp. Here’s a cool 1 Million FPS slow motion video showing a bullet impact.

Researchers at Technical University of Ilmenau in Germany created “Diminished Reality” which can stunningly remove objects from a video in real time and the results are great. Well it works this way: The software first reduces the resolution of the object and then removes the object from the selected area and then it improves the result and incrementally increases the resolution so as to match the quality of the original.

Google’s homepage today has a very unique doodle. Its a tribute to the great artist John Lennon of Beatles for his 70th Birthday(born: 9th October, 1940). You’ll see a big G, a tree and simple landscape sketch replacing the two “o”s. The other “g” and “l” are intact while the “e” is again replaced with a play button.

Generally, we get to see videos from Youtube and Vimeo embedded in sites. But some blogs host videos on their own servers. Downloading videos from popular sites like Youtube, Vimeo, Metacafe is easy and many online tools are available for that. Keepvid, Javimoya, etc. let you download videos from most of the popular videos hosting and sharing websites. But the ones that aren’t available for download via these sites can be downloaded via internet explorer.

Google Video search has added some advanced search options making it more easier to find videos. You must have noticed one of the latest features in Google Search, the “Show Options”. A similar “show options” can be found in Google video search too. You just do a search and you’ll see the “search options” at the top of the page.
