Bookmarklets make your life easier while browsing the internet. They allow you to do things with just a click. Be it URL shortening, sharing pages on social bookmarking sites or fixing font sizes, bookmarklets really speed up the task. Here are some very useful javascript bookmarklets for everyday browsing.

Drag the links to your bookmark toolbar or to a bookmark folder.color

Choose font size for a page: Some websites have text in very small font size that is difficult to read. In such cases this bookmarklet is gonna help you. Press this bookmarklet and you’ll get a box to enter the desired font size. Now enter the font size in points, for example “12pt” and hit enter. This will change the font size of the web page to 12 points.

Highlight Links: This bookmarklet hightlights all the occurrences of links on a web page. Click on this and you’ll see all the links within the page you are viewing highlighted in yellow. Another useful bookmarklet, “Count links” can show you the number of links within a page. If you want some more advanced option use the Int/Ext links bookmarklet that separately highlights internal and external links.

Character count: This javascript bookarmklet is a boon for all types of internet users who use email and need to type off and on. Upon clicking this quick bookmarklet, you’ll see a character count next to all texts box on a page. So, when you are typing an email you can see how many characters you’ve written so far.

Remove Java/ Flash: If you don’t want Flash or Java on a page, this bookmarklet can be of help. Remove Java/Flash bookmarklet will remove all flash content and java running on a page. It also removes background music from a web page.

Bit.ly URL Shortener: This bookmarklet will shorten the URL of the current web page to a bit.ly short link. You can also use the bit.ly sidebar bookmarklet that gives more options like exapanding bit.ly links and seeing the page titles.

Test CSS Styles: Text CSS Styles bookmarklet is for website designers who need to play around with CSS codes while designing a page. Click on this bookmarklet to open a new window where you can add CSS styles that will be instantly applied to the page.

Mouse Controlled DOM Explorer: This is another great browser bookmarklet for website designers and developers. Once you click on it, you can see the element type, div id, etc. for a certain div as you move the mouse around the page.

Calculator: Ever need to do some quick calculations without opening up the windows calculator or heading over to Google search? The calculator bookmarklet is smart enough

to do the basic calculations addition, subtraction, multiplication, division etc.

Zoom Images In: If you need to zoom in the images of a web page without zooming the text, just click on this bookmarklet. If you need to Zoom images out, use this Zoom Images out Bookmarklet.

Web Colors: Web Colors bookmarklet will show you the basic web colors with their color codes in a separate window.
