However, along with these benefits, there are also risks that companies take in using computers since there are a lot of hackers and web criminals that are trying to hack into your computer system to steal your sensitive or precious data.  To ensure that your data is safe, you need to make sure that you will avoid the common mistakes that new companies make when it comes to network security.

  1. Impatience:  Some people are very eager to use their computers and they want to connect it to the internet once the computer is out of the box. They are not patient enough to install first the necessary software and programs that will protect their computers from viruses, malwares, and malicious software that hackers use to gain access to your data and steal it from your computer system.  If you really want to make sure that your data will be safe, you must have the patience of installing all the latest programs and software that will keep your data safe and protected in your computer.

Ineffective Passwords: Putting a password in your computers will not guarantee that it is impossible for hackers to gain access to your computer especially if your password is weak.  This is the reason why you need to create strong passwords that is not easy to guess. You can do this by creating a password that is 8 characters or more and is a combination of alphanumeric characters. To ensure that your passwords are always effective, you can change them from time to time.
  3. Not Creating Backups: In some cases, even if you think that your computer is equipped with the latest security programs, you might still lose your data because of other factors. Your hard disk might crash or you might accidentally delete your important files. These are some of the reasons why it is important to have backup files of your valuable so that you will be able to recover them in case you lost them.
  4. Too Trusting:  If you are using an internet, then you will always encounter a lot of pop-ups. Sometimes, there are pop-ups that will tell you that there are problems in your computer and you need to fix it immediately.  Don’t trust those pop-ups; usually they are the cause of the problem rather than the solution.  It is advisable for you to run some security test first before trying out a program that is introduced by those pop-ups.
  5. Not Encrypting Data:  Data encryption is very important since there is still a risk that your data will be stolen even if your computer systems are equipped with the latest ad strongest security programs.  However, you will feel confident that your valuable data will be unusable for the third party in case they are stolen from you of you have them encrypted before storing them to your computer.
