How to find out the cache memory of your computer’s processor

The cache in your CPU is used to reduce the time to access the memory. While buying a computer, a general customer would just look at the specs like RAM, Hard Disk, Processor etc. but leave out on the cache memory because many people don’t know of its importance. While buying a desktop or a laptop, be sure to check if your system has ample cache memory. You can also check the cache memory that your system has. But you can easily find cache memory of your computer using SIW(System Information for Windows).

SIW is a very handy tool that lets you know the cache memory of your system. This tool is very handy and this gives you an all round information of your computer’s hardware, operating system etc. Visit SIW’s homepage and download the software. You will see options for buying the software at the top but don’t panic. Scroll down a bit and you’ll find links to the older version of the software that is free for personal use. This version works completely well and gives you the information on the cache memory of your processor .

Download and install SIW. After opening it, you’ll see a lot of options at the left hand pane for information on your operating system, applications etc. Scroll Down to the hardware section. Here you will get all the specifications of your computer’s hardware. Click on “CPU Info”. At the bottom, you’ll see the cache memory of your system listed as L1, L2 and L3 cache.  Generally cache memory is from 512Kb to a couple of MBs. SIW(System Information for Windows) thus helps you learn about the cache memory of your CPU including other specifications of your computer’s hardware.
