There have been numerous apps for college students manage their school work. Some apps are better than others, and the following four have received high markings for their usability, design and practicality.

iTunes U

Available for the iPhone, the iTunes U app gives users access to the world’s largest digital catalog of free education content. The app offers several complete courses from leading universities in an array of different subjects. Classes are comprised of a combination of audio, digital books, presentations and actual assignments from instructors. In addition to free courses, iTunes U also gives users access to more than 500,000 free lectures, videos, books and other educational resources. This app is also available for download on the iPad and iPod touch.

STUDYBLUE Flashcards

This app is available for download on both Android and iOS devices. STUDYBLUE Flashcards is an awesome app that you can use to make your own digital flashcards, eliminating paper waste and streamlining study time. Create flashcards with text and photos and study anytime, anywhere. The app keeps up with your performance and tells you which cards you need to focus on. You can also share notes and flashcards with classmates and other users through an online search.

My Class Schedule

This app is available for Android devices. Keep up with your busy student life with this easy-to-use scheduling tool that helps you stay on top of assignment due dates and exam times. Input your grades and let the app compute your average grade in all your classes. You can even set the app to automatically silence your cell phone while you are in class.

iStudiez Pro

This iOS app helps students organize their class schedule in more ways than one. Not only can you choose several different types of schedules (class, alternating, rotating and block schedules) but you can also add course details, instructor contact information and office hours. The app also helps you keep up with homework and other assignments, tracks your grades, calculates your GPA and keeps you alert on pending and upcoming assignments, exams and events, among other things.
