I’ve always kept up to date with the latest technology and this is no more evident than in the format I view my movies in. I’ve been slowly replacing my old DVD collection with blu rays and have been using my Playstation 3 as my main blu ray player for a few years now, but finally upgraded that too. During my research I became a bit of an expert in blu ray players and this is my personal top five list of must have blu ray players on the market right now.

I love my movies – I always have something on the TV during evenings and weekends, even if it’s just an old favourite playing for background noise while I’m pottering about the house.

5. Philips BDP7500
Pros:
Excellent picture and sound quality, speedy load-disc times, cleverly designed
Cons: Unattractive styling, pricey for what you get
Price: £220
A great all round BD player, but don’t expect anything more despite the price tag. The exterior of this player has been well thought out, but the internal features fail to match up.

4. Sony BDP-S570
Pros:
High quality playback on blu rays, HD 3D TV compatible, BBC iPlayer, Sony’s Bravia Internet Video Portal
Cons: Limited support for streaming, needs a new HDMI v.1.4AV receiver to work
Price: £160
Full of bells and whistles, this player is remarkably good value for money – unfortunately you’d need to upgrade other hardware before you could use it!

3. Samsung BD-C6900
Pros:
Fantastic disc-load speed, good picture quality, attractive design, 3D capability
Cons: Networking is a pain
Price: £295
Lossless audio and speedy disc-load speed set this attractive little number apart from the pack. The internet TV functions are also fabulous, but the networking process can put you off getting at them!

2. Panasonic DMP-BDT310
Pros:
Great picture and sound quality, dual HDMI outputs, Skype capabilities, 3D support
Cons: Not so speedy disc-load times.
Price: £230
Small but packing a hell of a punch, this top of the range player has a number of networking options, dual HDMI outputs, 3D support and a whole host of other features including Skype. The only trade-off is the disc-load speed isn’t great.

1. Panasonic DMR-BW880
Pros: Massive storage capacity, idiot proof, over-network sharing capability, awesome picture and sound quality
Cons: ‘Awesome’ comes at a cost… it’s ridiculously pricey!
Price: £800
Anyone from the biggest tech geek in the world to your technophobe grandma could use this machine and with its 500GB storage capacity it’s a great family blu ray player. It’s stylish and a phenomenal player, but at £800 you’d expect no less.

Adobe has launched a new application called “Project Rome” which is a content creation and publishing application for consumers, small businesses and teachers. The tool is for users who don’t have technical knowledge in designing applications. Users can create rich multimedia content, websites, design and other stuff without the knowledge of desktop applications like the Adobe Suite. Moreover, Project Rome is currently free for use.

With Adobe Rome, you can easily create documents by embedding graphics, photos, videos, sound and interactive animation. Adobe Rome is available both as an Adobe AIR application as well as browser based application. You can download your creations in various formats like SWF, PNG, GIF, PDF etc.

Creating interactive content, brochures, business cards, flyers etc. can be pretty much effortless with Adobe Rome. It can also be used for creating Presentations, ads etc. For people who have little or no idea on designing but still want to create websites or other stuff for sharing with peers and family like invitations, websites, etc, Adobe Rome is the easiest choice. Things created with Project Rome can also be shared via cloud based services like Google Apps or Acrobat.com. You can share your creations over Facebook, Twitter and Google Buzz via integrated buttons.

Teachers  can also use it for interaction in classroom with students. But the version for teachers is called “Project Rome for Education” which is different from the standard version. Both versions are pretty much the same and support all sorts of media and file formats applicable in designing. “Project Rome for Education” requires any institution to use the Google Apps for Education system pre installed on their computers. Project Rome’s integration with Google Apps integration is safe as it is done via OAuth.

Project Rome supports cloud-based computing and the ability to share files via Adobe Acrobat.com, Google Apps, or via the Project Rome Template Exchange. Users can also publish links to their creations directly via Facebook, Twitter, and Google buzz. Project Rome does not currently work on mobile phones and devices.

Project Rome is currently available only for United States and in English language. Now, it is just available as a free preview and very soon Adobe will start shipping it as a commercial application.

Today Twitter has announced a New revamped Twitter that they had been calling the New Twitter. Although many users had already experienced it some while ago, the rest hadn’t got a chance to see what it looked like. The New re-engineered Twitter has a lot of features and you’ll love it for sure.

New Twitte for all Twitterers around the world were eager to experience the New Twitter for some time now as everyone on Twitter hadn’t had their accounts activated; Twitter had given the privilege to a handful of users only. But still, Twitter hasn’t made the New Twitter a default interface. Users can opt out of it and revert back to the older version. Twitter launched the New Twitter when there are rumors going on about Facebook introducing a new design very soon.

new twitter interface The New Twitter is rich in terms of design and ease of use. Users can see media shared by their friends like pictures and videos from the major media sharing sites like Flickr, Twitpic, Twitvid, Vimeo etc. You can see the related tweets, other tweets by the user, a map of the location from where the Tweet was sent etc. on the details pane. You can see a user’s mini profile on clicking the user’s name without having to visit his profile page. You can add a custom background too, like you could earlier. There are lots of other features in the New Twitter and there are very slim chances of users opting out of it.
