Computer peripherals are often overlooked, but they are important features that allow you to maximise your computer’s potential – but just how did those peripherals come to be on our desk and who should we thank?

Keyboard History

The original computer keyboard took its inspiration from the typewriter using a punched card system. Initially the letters on a keyboard were arranged alphabetically but as people typed faster keyboards became jammed – in order to combat this problem, the QWERTY keyboard was born. The 1970s saw the first computer keyboards that were merely converted electric typewriters and later this decade computer companies began to develop specific computer keyboards. Membrane switches replaced the individual mechanical keys used on computer keyboards in the 1990s and development continues as we see the introduction of ergonomic keyboards that aid usability.

Monitor History

In 1981 IBM launched their 3-piece computer, this was the first time a monitor was separate from a computer’s cpu and keyboard. At the time computers used Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitors that had been invented for television sets back in 1922. In the early 1990s, after being used earlier in calculators and digital watches, computer manufacturers began using Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitors in laptops. Perfect for laptops thanks to their size and weight, LCD monitors weren’t used in desktops until 1997 and have now replaced the CRT monitor as the most popular computer monitor.

Computer Mouse History

Imagine life without a mouse – that’s exactly how early computing began with commands typed onto the keyboard rather than the easy pointing device we now use. Invented in 1964 by a man named Douglas Engelbart the very first mouse was a wooden shell with a circuit board and two metal wheels. It wasn’t until eight years later when Bill English took hold of the invention that the rollerball technology was added. In 1980 the mouse was developed further to remove the ball which often became stuck and dirty to create the optical mouse that most of us now use. Initially the optical mouse was far too expensive to be used in the commercial market and it wasn’t until 1998 that it became widely used.

Printer History

The very first printer was invented in 1953 by Remington-Rand to be used with their Univac computer. IBM later caught on to this idea and in 1957 the dot matrix printer was born, working in a similar way to the 1970 daisy wheel printer the Dot Matrix printer imprinted paper by striking it with a hammer. 1975 saw the creation of the laser printer which used technology taken from the 1938 dry printing process, xerography.

The most popular choice of modern printer, the inkjet, was actually invented in 1976, although it wasn’t actually marketed until 1988 at the price of $1000!! Thankfully our much-loved Dell printers have developed over the years and reduced considerably in price.

Next time you plug in one of your computer peripherals, remember the epic journey it’s gone through to be the technologically advanced device it is today.

These models include the 23” S23A950D and 27” S27A950D varieties which completely redefined consumer expectations of the modern entertainment monitor. The screens themselves are finger thin with lashings of stainless steel and a rather adventurous asymmetrical stand design. The screen surface also breaksaway from the norm by offering a glossy ‘Ultra Clear Panel’ rather than the traditional matte texture.

When it comes to stylish computer monitors Samsung certainly knows their stuff. As with most things in life, everyone has their personal preferences. Samsung have traditionally played it quite safe with the aesthetics of their modern screens, introducing subtle aesthetic touches such as smooth Perspex bezels and stands. They often added a bit of extra zing with various ‘Touch of Color’ styling tints, butstill kept things well within the palette of most consumers. Recently Samsung shook things up a bit with the introduction of a range of monitors with truly head-turning style; the SA950 or ‘Series 9’.
Samsung Series 9 monitorsSamsung have recently announced another member of their ‘Series 9’ monitors; the SA970 or S27A970. There are clear differences in monitor specification, such as the use of a high resolution professional PLS (Plane to Line Switching) panel on the SA970. And a professional panel needs a smart and refined look; Samsung does not disappoint. Despite the monitor having the more usual central attachment to the stand the visual impact is still very much there. From the front the monitor is as sleek as they come with an edge-to-edge glass front and minimalistic metal stand design.

And from the back the design is just as streamlined, with a beautiful height-adjustable aluminium stand and dark brushed metal casing. The monitor is once again exceptionally thin. As with the SA950 this is achieved through a combination of a slender LED backlight and integration of the electronics into the base. If the current member of Samsung’s ‘Series 9’ monitors are anything to go by then we are in for some truly beautiful products in the future.

Monitor your Teens use Android Parental Control App https://techattitude.com/monitor-your-teens-use-android-parental-control-app/ https://techattitude.com/monitor-your-teens-use-android-parental-control-app/#comments Wed, 29 Feb 2012 14:09:50 +0000 http://techattitude.com/?p=12731 Android parental control is the solution to all the problems that parents who work extra hours face regarding monitoring the activities of their teens. Android parental control is the solution to all the problems that parents who work extra hours face regarding monitoring the activities of their teens. It is known for a fact that teens that spend more time watching the television and playing video games have the tendency to develop health problems later in life. Therefore, parents need to watch over their teenage children to make sure that they do not develop such habits of becoming a couch potato, which could lead to detrimental effects on their health.

How to Keep Tabs on Teens?

Android parental control is an Android app that allows parents to know what is going around their teen, or what their teen is up to, while they are at work or the teens are gone to hang out with the friend. This can be done by making a spy call on the phone of the teen in which the app has been installed. This call makes it possible for one to listen to the surrounding sounds live. The person on whose phone the spy call is made does not find out about it. So, if parents want to know what their teen might be doing while they are at work, or the teen has gone over to a friend’s house, they can make a spy call and find out whether or not the teens are playing video games, watching TV or playing a sport.

Features of Parental Control App

Furthermore, parents can also use Android parental control to to monitor the SMS text messages exchanged between their teen and his friends. It is very obvious that teens make plans of watching a movie together or playing a game on their latest play station or x-box, so this feature is very helpful for parents who want to know if their teens spend more than enough time on these things. If through parental control, parents find out that their teen is a couch potato, they can then take appropriate measures to restrict them from watching too much television, and encourage them to go for healthy activities including sports.

Conclusion

Android parental control’s features can save all those teens that are on the verge of becoming obese because they do not exercise and just sit at home and watch movies or play video games, thus parents should make the most out of this app and monitor their teens.

Author Bio

I’m a freelancer – writing is something that gives me great joy. I’ve been working with teen’s safety measures, guiding parents with android monitoring software technology for a while now. I work by picking up ideas from technology news relating to android and then presenting them forward through my articles. My readers can count on me for the latest and most important android updates.

You do everything you can to optimize your online store. You work through a number of different designs, testing each as you go, to find out which has the highest conversion rate. The same goes for your online store copy.

These are important parts of online store optimization. There’s another aspect to online store optimization, however, that often gets overlooked: enhanced security measures.

What are enhanced security measures?

By “enhanced security measures,” we mean things like:

  • Secure Sockets Layer. Arguably, SSL should be in the “basic security measures” category, but believe it or not there are still some online stores not running with SSL. Consumers are savvy, and simply not using SSL will cost you business.
  • Verification services. Both AVS (Address Verification Service) and verification of the CCV are essential to online store optimization. The higher you set the AVS threshold, by the way, the better off you’ll be.
  • Secure online store software. Your cart should, at a minimum, be PCI compliant. That’s the basic set of standards in order to accept credit card payments.
  • Site monitoring. Most hosting providers also offer a security monitoring service for an additional fee. When you’re running an online store, it’s generally a good idea to add this layer of security, as well.

A fully-optimized online store will have all of these, and probably other enhanced security measures, too.

Why you need them

Enhanced security measures help your online store from two angles: increased sales and protection from chargebacks. Let’s take a look at each in turn.

Enhanced security measures increase the sales in your online store by:

  • Projecting credibility. Unless you’re a well-established online store, there is a credibility gap you’ve got to overcome if you’re going to maximize your sales. Customers have heard hundreds of horror stories over the years about online stores and scams, and they’re wary. Using enhanced security measures adds to your credibility, making customers more comfortable and more likely to buy.
  • Addressing specific security concerns. There’s a smaller subset of the overall online store marketplace that’s not simply paranoid because of fantastic news stories; they have some knowledge of security technology. Those folks are going to be looking for the https:, and they’re going to be watching for CCV verification, for example. If you don’t have those enhanced security measures, this group won’t buy.

These measures also protect you against chargebacks. By requiring the CCV, for example, you pretty much guarantee that the person typing in the credit card number either is now or has previously held the physical credit card. Add in address verification as another layer, and you’ll see fewer fraudulent transactions and fewer chargebacks because of it.

Displaying reliability

Finally, it’s worth noting that you need to make sure your customers know you’re using enhanced security measures. Mention them on your privacy page, and consider setting up a blurb or even an entire page that talks about how you’re dedicated to secure and safe transactions.

In the end, enhanced security measures are just one more element you need to consider in online store optimization.

For many small businesses it can be hard to track how an employee is doing. However, if the company wants to have the proper customer service, then they may need to use an online service to help out. With this the business will see they can track how long the employees are logged in, the company can update the projects, and the company can allow all of the employees access to the project to ensure it will be completed in a timely manner. The amount of time the employees are logged in can be important information for you to have. With this information, it will be easy for you to know if they are logging their hours properly for pay. However, you will also notice this can help you better track the way your employees are working.

With most of these programs the company can update them automatically. Then the company does not have to be concerned about the employees running out of work to do because it can automatically be updated. Then the company can have a great time knowing all of their workers are doing their job properly.

Allowing all of the employees access to certain projects will make it easy for the business to get the work done. then the person will not have to be concerned about none of the work being done. Without this, it may require the boss to assign the project and this can lead to the wrong employee getting the work.

Being able to run a company can be a great thing to do, but it can also be confusing and difficult at times for some people. This is when a person should learn about why a small business needs to have some form of online service to assist with the customer service needs. Some of the ways this will help out is by tracking how the employees are logged in, allowing the company to easily update the projects in real time, and even the way the employees can access the projects right away.

Process Monitoring In Industry https://techattitude.com/process-monitoring-in-industry/ https://techattitude.com/process-monitoring-in-industry/#respond Tue, 19 Jul 2011 14:18:19 +0000 http://techattitude.com/?p=3312 SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. SCADA systems are commonly used in high tech industries to gather information about processes and what is happening on a shop floor level. The information gathered from the SCADA systems is passed to process monitoring software, which identifies potential issues, faults, and productivity problems.

The process monitoring systems can then be used to find bottlenecks and improve productivity. They can also be used as an early warning system to identify breakages before they occur, saving time, money, and lost productivity.

Available SCADA tools include temperature sensors, humidity sensors, weight and flow monitors, and pressure sensors. There are also more specialist tools for high-tech industries, and even tools that are used for traffic control and monitoring. Any industry with complex workflows or equipment can benefit from detailed information gathering.

If you have a small or medium sized business, you may be wondering if process monitoring is suitable for you. If you have any form of high-tech equipment, then you may benefit from some form of process monitoring. You may not want a fully fledged control and data acquisition system, but it’s always a good idea to make sure that your computer hardware is operating correctly, and that nothing is going to overheat or keel over. For bigger plants, a more complex and detailed set of monitoring equipment will be needed in order to ensure that the information being gathered is as accurate as possible.

At its simplest, you can use these monitoring tools as an early warning system. Ideally, however, the data that you gather will have value even when things are not going wrong. If you spot that a computer is constantly under high load, or that one of your plant’s systems is always operating at 90% capacity, while the rest of your systems are not even at half load, then you could use that data to optimize your productivity. Perhaps you could get more work done if you upgraded the bottlenecked systems. Or, perhaps you know that you need to reduce demand on that system for a short time to make sure it doesn’t suffer unnecessary wear and tear.

SCADA equipment may seem expensive at first glance, but the potential benefits offered by process monitoring make it a good investment. If you have mission-critical equipment, then it makes sense to ensure that you know what is going on with that equipment at all times, and that’s what SCADA provides. Of course, you should still perform manual inspections, and have a solid back-up plan, but anything that you can do to help your engineers stay on top of developing issues is worth investigating.

When you know the source of potential problems, and are alerted to problems as they arise (or even before they actually become an issue), that puts you in a position to respond promptly and effectively. The initial outlay for process monitoring software and hardware is something that will quickly pay off in increased productivity, peace of mind, and security.

You can’t go on checking his website everyday. But SparkTooth can monitor any web page for a certain keyword and then notify you as soon as it is available on the website.

SparkTooth sends you an email alert as soon as they find the the keyword that you’re looking for on a certain website. You’ll need to enter the keyword, the address or URL of the website that you want to find the keyword in, and your email address to send you the notification. SparkTooth checks the site every ten minutes and when the keyword is found, you’ll be sent a notification email. As soon as you are sent the notification, your email address will be deleted from their system. And while they search a site, they just search on the particular web page, not the whole site. You won’t need to register to use the site.
