Use the Golden Triangle to Your Advantage

Many tests during the late 1990s and early 2000s discovered and confirmed the area of websites that people naturally look at when the site first loads. This area is known as the golden triangle, and it is where a call of action should be located if you want to make sure that every visitor makes eye contact with what you’re promoting. By putting your call to action in the golden triangle, you’re employing the help of every human being’s natural biological instincts to force users to see what you want them to act on, and this can drastically boost your conversion rates.

Establish Trust to Build Your Conversions

Trust is a complicated issue when it comes to promoting products and services on the Internet. Your potential customers will often know nothing about you or what you’re promoting except what is put in front of them on your website. Because of this limited amount of communication, efficiency in building trust is absolutely critical. If your audience trusts you, then they will be much more likely to buy from you the first time and to continue buying from you in the future. Here are a few things to look out for when building trust:

– Double and triple check that there are no spelling or grammatical errors on any of the pages of your website. This makes you look unprofessional and clumsy, which is a major turn-off for potential customers.

– Post any certificates or awards that your website or business has won. This adds an extra layer of legitimacy to your site that will make you stand out. Any awards from local “real life” organizations will be extremely valuable since it shows you aren’t only being judged by other websites.

– Include an “About Us” page on your website that includes your actual business information, including a business address if you have one. A cheap post office box is great for this purpose. You can also integrate a maps website like Google maps into your “About Us” page to show a physical location for your business.  Showing a physical location builds trust by showing that you are a real business and that you’re disclosing your actual location.

– Have a Strong Call to Action.  This is the single tip that is easily the most over-looked piece of advice that anyone could ever give for improving conversion rates. By having a strong and clear emphasis on exactly what your readers should be doing to take advantage of whatever you’re promoting, you will greatly increase the percentage of users who do what it is you’re wanting them to do.
