Bing API for developers

Microsoft’s Bing is out for a while now. Many of us have already tested Bing and found it to be much faster and user friendly than Live search. Well developers get ready for the Bing API. Bing has a very good REST API.

Microsoft’s Project Silk Road states, “A key part of Project Silk Road is a re-architected Bing API that offers open, flexible options for building or enhancing your site or applications. Developing an application with the new API is straightforward: Choose a SourceType (or SourceTypes – you’re not limited to one), choose an output protocol (JSON, SOAP, or XML) and then customize according to your needs. All you need to get going is an AppID.”

There are some improvements in the new Bing API. You can now have multiple protocols like JSON, XML, SOAP, unlimited use for customer facing sites and so on. If you are a developer, then try it out. You can also Monetize your site that uses the Bing API with search ads.
